Five more sleeps until we leave! I'm taking stock of what's in the fridge to come up with some interesting and creative lunches for work in order to finish off everything! I'm not sure we'll accomplish this goal but we'll try.
We're starting to get more excited now, and every once in awhile I realize how close to leaving we are, and I just get giddy. It's occurring more frequently each day so I imagine I'll be a happy, goofy mess by Wednesday. Bryan and I took our scuba refresher course Thursday night and once that was complete, we both said the reality had set in. He's decided to lay low at work next week and not get too stressed or involved in any of the goings-on, and I only have a few things to finish up before I'm good to go. My project last week went smoothly, once the initial hurdles were overcome. I think it'll be an easy 3 days, but hopefully they go by fast.
I am mostly ready to go now. I'll finish packing my bag closer to Thursday because what I haven't packed is stuff I'm still using. I'm not sure how far along Bryan is but I suspect he still needs to go quite a bit (I saw his list last night - about 5X longer than mine!). But, we'll both be ready to go on time.
Bryan is quite excited to be able to just sit on a beach when we're there, which, of course, won't happen until Cinque Terre (unless we get to Venice Beach), but it'll come, and there will be 3 or 4 opportunities. I'm looking forward to getting there and just not having to really worry about deadlines or getting up at particular times. I am even somewhat happy to know I won't have to hit the gym every day! I hope the walking we do balances out the food and wine!
We don't arrive in Rome until Friday, but the forecast for Thursday is 25, feels like 31, and sunny, so I am optimistic and super happy about that! All that's left now is to get through the next 5 days, convert some dollars to euros, and pack up all my stuff and hit the airport! I can't believe that this trip is actually, finally, happening!
